As we continue our voyage through Washington Wine Month we bring you a relatively new winery. Founded in 2013 by Lisa Warr-King Packer, Warr-King is located in the warehouse district of Woodinville. Lisa spent 20 years in the high tech marketing world, prior to starting a wine internship with Patterson Cellars. She completed the Wine Technology Program at Lake Washington Technical College and later completed the two year program in Enology at Washington State University. Lisa then spent two years collaborating with John Patterson, and a harvest with Chateau Ste. Michelle prior to starting her winery.
Her new release wines were very good. Lisa makes an excellent white wine, her 2016 Warr-King Roussanne (WWB, 90) which is poised, balanced and delicious. Also look to her 2014 Warr-King Cabernet Sauvignon (WWB, 90) which has a good structure and concentration of dark fruits. 2016 Warr-King Roussanne- This Columbia Valley bottling starts off with aromatics reminiscent of starfruit with a touch of butter and banana. 2014 Warr-King Syrah- This deep colored wine starts off with dark fruits on the nose with a touch of chocolate. Showing a nice mouthfeel, this wine has dark cherry and roasted fig flavors that need a bit of time to amalgamate. Drink 2018-2024- 89
2015 Warr-King ‘Descendant’ Red Wine- The ‘Descendant’ is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
